Mental Health First Aid
The full day course qualifies named mental health first aiders, the mental health equivalent of your physical first aiders. They become the people colleagues can go to.
Who this course is for
Anyone taking on a designated mental health first aider role, plus HR, line managers and supervisors.

- The role and boundaries of a mental health first aider
- Depression, anxiety and stress in the workplace
- Recognising early warning signs
- A structured framework for approaching a conversation
- Listening without judgement
- Supporting someone in crisis, including suicidal thoughts
- Self harm and substance misuse awareness
- Confidentiality and when to escalate
- Looking after your own wellbeing in the role
Worth knowing
This course covers difficult subjects including suicide and self harm. We run it carefully, and anyone can step out at any point.
How it is delivered
We come to you. Training runs at your own premises, which keeps your people on site and means the practical work happens in the environment they actually work in. If your site is not suitable we can arrange a venue instead, which is usually discussed when you book.
We are based in Glasgow and cover Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee, Aberdeen, Carlisle, Newcastle, Argyll, Highlands and Islands and Cumbria, and we will travel further for the right booking. See areas we cover.
